An Account of the 4th All Ireland Theosophical convention 2009
The Fourth All Ireland Theosophical Convention took place on Saturday 23rd May in Bewley’s Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin. It proved a very successful and totally uplifting occasion. The many appreciated messages of support from Adyar, America, Europe and many other TS Centres worldwide, largely contributed to creating a very special atmosphere. They also served to remind us that, as Theosophists, we are all working together towards a common purpose and are subtly linked or bonded at another level.
At the Business Meeting, which preceeded the Convention Lecture, the Organising Secretary, Marie Harkness and the Regional Treasurer, John Doherty (Belfast Lodge) were re-elected for another term. Angela Duff, President of Phoenix Lodge, Dublin, was elected Assistant Organising Secretary.
Our esteemed Guest Speaker was Tran-Thi-Kim-Dieu, Chairperson of the European Federation of the Theosophical Society. Her Talk on ‘The Yoga of Theosophy’ was truly inspiring and the attendees all appreciated the opportunity afterwards for related questions and answers followed by informal chat.
One of the highlights of the event was when Tran-Thi-Kim-Dieu presented the Charter to the President of the newly formed Phoenix Lodge in Dublin. An invitation was extended to all the local members present to reconvene informally the following morning at Bewley’s Hotel. Our Guest Speaker having been warmly thanked for her presence and for having shared with us her words of wisdom, was then presented with an Irish memento.
On behalf of the European Federation of the Theosophical Society, Tran-Thi-Kim-Dieu offered to purchase and make a gift to us, mainly for the Phoenix Lodge in Dublin, of a number of new Theosophical books which will be ordered from TPH Adyar. We are very touched and greatly appreciate this much needed and generous gift. This is a new beginning particularly for Phoenix Lodge.
We hope Kim-Dieu will grace our island again in the not too distant future.
